Optogenerapy at the EU Workshop Performance Assessment and Standardisation in Biophotonics Workshop

Marc Folcher, Senior Scientist and Lecturer in bioengineering from the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH), participated at the Workshop Performance Assessment and Standardisation in Biophotonics Workshop, which has taken place in Brussels on September 12.

 

Folcher has delivered a presentation on the challenges encountered during the characterisation of a biophotonic cell-based device for drug delivery such as Optogenerapy’s as a specific biophotonics application case.

 

Optogeneray’s project first wireless cell-based biophotonic implantable device main components have been explained, as well as the main obstacles found pre-clinically when establishing the manufacturing and validation processes.

 

The workshop targeted the development of a common strategy and a shared vision to improve the quality and effectiveness of Biophotonics devices and EU competitiveness. 

 

Different actors, from researchers, clinicians/end users, companies, associations, standardization bodies and representatives from the EU Commission attended to discuss the experience achieved and methodologies pursued in the recent years in the framework of different EU projects, and other endeavors, as well as current actions and future strategies in this field.
